A very nice holiday...

Well I must say it was a very nice holiday inspite of the fact that I am ready to fall over. I have been sick for about a week, with me trying to keep up with all the holiday stuff, cooking and family coming in it finally caught up with me today. I went to take a nap after the kids opened their gifts and woke up almost 4 hours later. YIKS! Anyway, we have really enjoyed all the family. My lil sister came in on monday. and my Dad, Dan, came in on sunday and we were able to spend monday & tuesday with him, which was really nice. My sister and my Dad came to the Cub Scout Meeting and were guest speakers to help teach the boys about Engineering. It was pretty cool watching them ask questions. Then on Tuesday night late Penny came and she was here till this afternoon. We also had my Stepdad, Dennis and his girlfriend Candi come for dinner last night. Its been a whirlwind, but wouldn't trade it for anything. We are very blessed with our family. This coming week we are planning to head over and visit with my Dad, stepmom, sister, nephews and some friends. So we will probably have a small celebration with them too.
So my stepdad came over Christmas Eve and he had all the gifts out, each kid had one gift. So he had them open their gifts at once. They open it up and Ryan got a half gone roll of toilet paper, Ethan got a partially used toothpaste, and Megan got a bar of soap. So the kids were like what the heck and Dennis and his girlfriend kept razzing the kids. So then they just started passing our gifts to us and were being super sports about the whole thing. So the next thing Pappy (Dennis) says is oh you know I think I might have left another bag outside and he came in with their gifts. They were sooo suprised. And truly we all got a good giggle out of it. So thats our Christmas funny!

On a side note, this is the 2nd Christmas without my mom and this was such a special time of the year with her. It was something that we really got into and I truly do miss the spirit within her for this holiday. She is always close to our hearts.

Lil Man has new glasses!!!

Last week we took Ethan in for an Eye Exam because he is still having headaches. So, the results are that he needs glasses. He is borderline by the dr was more than willing to try them and see if they help with his headaches that we have literally been battling for 2 yrs. So we got the glasses in today. Now to teach the boy how to care for the glasses and keep his lens clean.

Drum Club and property update

Ry made the drum club YAH! He forgot to tell me, but he made the drum club. I am very excited for him. The music teacher is even willing to work with the broken arm, which I think is GREAT! Ryan is also getting along well with the cast and enjoying the freedom to take showers without the worry of getting it wet.

Regarding the property. Apparently, one of the people involved in the transaction of the property was trying to pull a fast one, thankfully Rob's friend caught on and basically told him he would be in deep trouble if he messed up the deal. So the closing is set for next week!! I think we are going to go camp on the land over New Years. YAH!! So looks like we will start getting things ready to be there for June sometime. Scary and exciting all at once. I am looking forward to being closer to my Dad, sister, & nephews though.

Well off to get caught up on the house and such. We are having the Girl Scouts holiday party here saturday and sunday we have soccer and the holiday party for the Cub Scouts (not here).

Ryan is the proud owner of a WATERPROOF cast.

YAH!!! He had xrays today and his arm is showing signs of the bone regenerating. He has had the long cast on for 3 weeks now and it was taken off. Ryan enjoyed his few moments of freedom in which we washed his arm and hand and dried it well. Then we put out the extra money that the insurance wouldn't cover to get a WATERPROOF blue short cast. Let me tell you money well spent after all the showers (what a pain in the tush) we have endured. So we go back in 5 weeks and PRAY that it will be off and we will move on to a soft cast (a brace). So its looking like we have dodged the surgery bullet!!

Another day, Another Sinus Infection....

OY!!! I had a 2 week follow up for Ethan today and went ahead and put Ryan in since he has been complaining his head hurts. Sure enough he has a sinus infection, but at least we are nipping it in the butt now. Ethan on the other hand has been through 2 rounds of antibotics and he is still complaining his head hurts and its affecting his lungs (asthma). So she wants him to go see an Optometrist, if his vision is fine then I will see the allergist to rule that out and then off to the nuerologist. Then there are his heals that have been hurting him off and on for a few months. So we have orders for an xray and we will see what the findings are and go towards the Orthopedic from there. So lots of doctor appts in my future. LOL! Oh well, we are all tired so perhaps tonight we will hit the sack after we eat our belated Turkey Dinner that I cooked during the day. Not to much else to report other than the boys got the ok from the State to have their business on the property that we have a contract on.

A little excitment on the property

Saturday we went out to the property on the west coast. Its very beautiful, the lake is incredible. We hiked around it, it has a 9 acre lake. The kids got in the paddle boat and paddled out to one of the islands and played king of the mountain (there is a big pile of soil out there). A little later Rob went out with J and on the other island they found a 2 foot gator. Such fun... Of course Rob had to SHOW me the prison which is about a 1/2 mile away. I found out more info on that, apparently its not a max security with the really bad people and they have never had an escape ever in 25 ish years. Still not sure how I feel about this all. Today we found that we got the ok from the state to run the business on the land, so now we are moving forward to getting all the financial stuff tied up with the banks (two seperate properties and two different banks, its divided oddly)

Here is a link to some new pics along w/ the old ones. http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b146/alwaysdreamin/Punta%20Gorda%20Property/

Turkey Day and Beyond...

Well my lil sister came into town wednesday late. And thursday we went to my stepdad and his fiancee's home for Turkey dinner. It was very yummy and we have leftovers to prove it, ok so we HAD leftovers they are more or less gone now. LOL!!! Friday I got up and did some BlackFriday shopping, we buzzed around the house and then took the kids and a friend to see Madagscar 2, very cute movie. Saturday am we got up early and took a run to see the property in Punta Gorda the boys have a contract on. Its really beautiful and quite peaceful inspite of a little road noise from the highway. The kids had a blast, they took the paddle boat out to the island and played king of the hill, well the older boys did. LOL! Even my Dad made it out to check it all out. Then we enjoyed some time at the house and went to a Christmas event in Fort Myers in the evening where our friends son played with his recorder group from school. Sunday we got up went and attempted to fish a bit but a) we forgot the cast net and b) the fish weren't bitting due to the weather. We got a bite to eat the house and then headed back towards my Dad and stepmom's house for a visit with them, my sister, brother in law and nephews. It was nice to see everyone and then off we went back home again. We are all pretty well tired. But that is my update for now. Pictures will follow tomorrow. Night!!!

Recheck @ the Orthopaedic Surgeon

Well we went in today and had xrays done. They brought him back in the room and left the xray up on the screen so Ryan and I pondered if it had changed any from last week. The tech came in and wasn't very re-assuring after looking at last weeks, but said not to stress until after the dr looked at it. So Ryan of course started getting stressed and I reassured him that we have been through surgery before and if we had to we'd get through it. We needed to get his arm completely better and the doctor would make sure we did the right thing, so he took a deep breath and relaxed. The doctor came in and said that it had improved about 2 degrees, so we would see if another week would improve it some more. He said if he had good improvement that in 10 days from now he would consider a short cast. Of course this thrilled us because a) for now we have avoided an evasive surgery and b) we can get a WATERPROOF cast if we get a short one and it will make life big time easier.

So today I am thankful that my son will not need surgery as an intervention and will continue to pray and hope that holds true.

Orthopaedic Update...

Well we went to the Ortho dr yesterday and he said Ryan's arm had a slipper break. He said it was pretty bad and that he was going to try set it and cast it. He also has me coming back every week to check that the bone is mending on its own. He didn't seem really convinced that it would and said next tuesday when he sees Ryan he will determine whether surgery will be needed. He had to adjust the setting of the bone while he casted and I just felt soooo badly for Ryan. He has been such a trooper through this all. Right now he is in a long cast which can't get wet. Makes showers lots of fun. While he was getting his xray in the cast I spoke with the dr about the surgery IF it would happen. He said that a pin would not be good for this location and he would more than likely need a plate that would be screwed in. If this happens he would need to go back in a year from now to have that removed since he is still growing. So please say a prayer that his body will do its job and mend that bone. After 3 weeks if all goes well we can put a waterproof short cast on, which he will wear at least 5 more weeks.

Our First Broken Bone

Well friday night Ryan went to soccer practice as he does almost every friday night, and they were practicing.... And his coach kicked the ball and somehow Ryan's wrist got in the way. :( Poor kid. He came home said it hurt a little, Rob was convinced it was just a deep bruise so we iced it and went about our day saturday. He honestly didn't really complain about being in pain but then again we had him in a sling with an ice pack. Well by sunday am it hadn't changed any and I took him the ER. Sure enought he has a right radial break/fracture. We have an appt with the Orthopedic tuesday afternoon. I have been giving him motrin for the pain and he is being a trooper. Of course he is right handed and its his right wrist that broke.. OY! More to follow tomorrow....

Can hardly believe that Halloween is here and then I just know that the rest of the year will zip on by. I haven't had time to get to the pumpkin patch, well let me rephrase that we unloaded pumpkins at the begining of the month but because I didn't have Megan we didn't buy. And every time I have had time its raining!!!! So today I FINALLY took them to pick out a pumpkin at the church. Of course over half of them are rotted at this point. But anyway we managed to find a nice pumpkin and of course our traditional three munchkins. Poor Ethan had been home sick with me all day but was feeling a bit better and I knew I wouldn't have time later on. So when you see his picture you will clearly see he doesn't feel well. Daddy is off to the west coast to start working on the business venture that will put us in the Aquaponics business. Enjoy my munchkins, they sure are getting big.

Soccer - Boys

Well the boys have been practicing for 3 weeks now and today was the very first game. Unfortantely they were at the same time so I was back and forth trying to watch. Rob is the coach of Ethan's and an asst coach for Ryan's team. I tell you I am NOT a sports person, but something about soccer and my kids playing and I become a huge sports fan. Soooo strange, but I love it. Both of them lost, but they had a good time playing so thats what matters. Check out the size on the boys Ryan's team was playing, they must be getting ready to go into the next division. Ryan and Ethan just moved up divisions so they are the youngest in their divisions again. Also Ryan's field got HUGE this year. Ok... without further delay (because we know you are here for the pictures LOL!)

And a few more...

Yah they were super silly tonight. We went to the doctor and then went and had chinese at a restaurant called Pei Wei. Mmmm!!! It was so good, we rarely eat out these days so it was a great treat. We are starting to get completely slammed w/ soccer and scouts starting up, but we honestly enjoy both things so much. We also got rid of the big truck and took on way lower payments with a new Scion. I am starting a seasonal job at QVC on the 13th, looking forward to that inspite of the hours being 9 pm to 2 am, also praying they will keep me on after the holidays. The plus to it is it doesn't mess with the kids stuff to much and when it does Rob will just step in. We are pretty much hanging in here, the economy stinks right now and Rob's business is not the best but we are hanging tough.
When life gives you lemons, just make LEMONADE. :)

Kids n Bubbles...

My silly lil kiddos.... They were blowing bubbles outside the doctors appt and having a good time. Thought I would share....

Growing...

So the kids and grandma planted some "left over" seeds from two seasons ago and we have gotten a few things, tomatoes which are currently floating in the pond as an experiment, a watermelon which got transplanted and is doing really well, and then a mystery plant... Not sure yet... Maybe Cuke, Maybe Cantelope and I haven't gone to look it up yet.
